Healthy Meal Alternatives!

So, you woke up at 9am, you’ve yet to bathe or eat anything, traffic’s building up and your class/work starts at 9.30am, what do you do? Well, I can’t give you any shortcuts about the bathing part, but here’s what you can do about getting in enough nutrients in the minimum amount of time!

healthy meal alternatives

#1 Get Creative With The Shaker

Isn’t it obvious? Just whip out that shaker of yours, add in one or two scoops of protein and here comes the fun part, mix and match some ingredients for a full range of nutrients! Ingredients which you may add in include oatmeal, peanut butter, milk, honey, yogurt, fruits, OREOS (you may need to blend these, which will take more time) or even creatine! I know some of you may have heard of the ol’ Rocky Balboa drink-raw-eggs-for-breakfast and wanna add a couple of eggs to your shake, but yuck, I find that disgusting and most of all, unsafe, unless it’s Egg Beaters or any other form of pasteurized egg whites.

Here’s a few ideas for some yummy protein shakes!

Berries and Cream

1 scoop vanilla whey protein

1 scoop ice

1 cup pineapple juice

1 handful of mixed berries

Banana Protein Shake

1 scoop vanilla whey protein

200ml soy milk

1 banana, diced

1 tbsp natural low-fat yogurt

1 tsp honey

3-4 ice cubes

Smooth Orange Shake

200ml orange juice

1 scoop vanilla whey protein

1 banana

2 tbsp natural almond/peanut butter

3-4 ice cubes

#2 Grab Some Protein Bars!

Maxifuel-viperactivebars

A protein bar is a quick, protein-rich, yummy and hassle-free alternative when you’re always on the go.  Make sure you store several bars in your fridge, in case of emergencies. My recommendation? Try Maxifuel energy bars. They’re made for sustained energy release, thus making them a great source of energy for hours!

#3 Eat Out

Subway-Chicken-Teriyaki

Ok, now this is the alternative which you have to be careful of, because temptation is around every corner. However, if you can resist the urge to step into the next fast food restaurant you see, you may find yourself a healthy, anabolic meal. My favourite places to eat out are Subway outlets or sushi restaurants (but this might be pricey). Just skip the soft drinks and sweet stuff and your diet is safe!

Well, I hope you guys sleep early and never have to rush to work/class. But if that fails, don’t skip breakfast! It’s called break-fast for a reason – you’re breaking the eight hour fast your body experienced throughout the night! And if you have to choose between breakfast or bathing, f**k bathing! :)
